New class dates!

Here we go!

Sunday 22nd April
Sunday 3rd June
Sunday 15th July
Sunday 2nd September

Monday

Sarah

The lovely Sarah came to a class at the end of last year. Possibly the youngest person that has ever come and definately one of the most enthusiastic. By the end of the class she had designed her own quilt - sketched it, planned it and then plotted it all onto scary looking graph paper.

Here it is - Henry's quilt - Sarah's design and hands and heart. Good isn't it?

Thursday

One Quilt, One Day

Somewhere between commissioning me to do a quilt and coming to a class - I knew there should be something, because I know that everyone has different levels of time, inclination and disposables. I also know that lots of you want to make it yourself, but it seems way too overwhelming.

So.

The perfect hybrid between learning to make your own quilt and commissioning my studio to make the quilt for you. Quite simply, up to three people can join me to make a quilt for their special occasion (birthday, wedding, celebration of life, just because you have always wanted to). I work with you beforehand to decide on the design and make sure that you have all the fabric and tools you need. We should complete the quilt top in a day.

Cost: £275  for up to three people. This is a full day from 9.30am - 5pm in London and can be booked on a weekday only. The cost does not include fabric or quilting but this can be arranged for you.

It would be a great day - I promise.

Last minute spot

We have a last minute cancellation, we means we have a last minute spot for the class this Sunday. Just get in touch if you're interested (and pray for this weather to hold on until then)- cassandra@cassandraellis.co.uk

Tuesday

Spring classes

We're moving to a different space for our next three quilting classes. So what was once full, now has a couple of spots available in each class.
Same lovely day where you will learn to plan, cut and piece the start of something fantastic, as well as learning the fundamentals to design your own quilt.

Same lovely food, same lovely cake, just a slightly bigger space, but still in East Dulwich, London.

Sunday 26th February
Sunday 25th March
Sunday 22nd April

Monday

Pushing yourself

Ask Ed - before any class I am a touch (read very) grumpy. I'm concerned -  is everything right, do I understand what everyone needs, is it good enough etc etc. I think this is a good way to be if not a touch frustrating for those around us. We all know about the exams or presentations when we were so relaxed we thought we'd flown through - invariably we didn't. I can tell you about my 'C' from Uni, but I won't because I cringe to this day about my lax approach to that paper (I am aware a C isn't that bad...).

After a class, I hope that my guests are happy, informed and even a little inspired, so what a delight when I receive emails or cards telling me they were. Thank you Rosemary - it made my day, and I'm so very glad we managed to rescue it from Darcy's jaw before he chomped it into confetti.

Thursday

New class dates!

Here we go!

I'll be back properly next week.

Last minute cancellation

We've had a last minute cancellation for next Sundays class - August 7th, so get in touch if you'd like to come along...

Tuesday

Charleston course ready and waiting!

I'm teaching again at Charleston (more excited than you can imagine) on Tuesday October 11th. Ring them to book on 01323 811626.

It is just the loveliest day.

A new class date

We had a beautiful day on Sunday. The sunshine meant we sat outside and created for much of the day. Lovely ladies, lovely food, lovely quilts, lovely day.

We've added a September date - just click here. And there will be new dates in lovely locations coming shortly.

Lovely.

Thursday

Classes - last spot or so

We have a spot or two left on our two special classes - July 3rd or August 7th - have a looky looky here.

I'm really looking forward to it!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday

New classes

I'm blown away by how quickly our classes sell out. I'm even more overwhelmed by the people that come, what they are making and why. We've had wedding presents, a gift to welcome a baby into the world, quilts to remember a member of the family who has passed away and many more moving tributes - some are so moving it's almost too big a responsibility - but I do my very best.

So the Papered Parlour has an extra class on June 12th and then they take a little rest until the Autumn.

Ed then kindly informed me that it would be silly to wait until then as we have emails constantly from people wanting to come on a class. He also pointed out that we 'now' have a lovely home and studio and what better place to welcome people. It's where I produce my commissions, create my designs and work on other projects.
So how about that - two classes - July 3rd and August 7th, at our home and studio, small numbers, with a lovely artisan lunch and cake and tea and a glass of wine at the end of the day.

You can either go to the website here for the info, or email me directly and I can send you all the details.

Extra Class at The Papered Parlour....

Roll up, roll up...... Before we schedule the summer classes, The Papered Parlour have put on an extra class. June 12th - book here as they always sell out...

Thursday

Great class

Our last interiors class was fantastic. I love helping people discover what home means to them  and how they want to live. For this class someone was happy to throw out the dining table as the view was more important, someone realised that she wasn't investing at all in her private space and someone understood that no matter what she did to this house, it wasn't going to remedy the fact that she didn't want to live there - house or location.

Creating a home isn't just about cushions and paint - although they are great ways of clarifying what represents you. For example, you will never ever find red walls (or anything red) in my home - never ever. It is difficult for me to switch off at the best of times (which I don't mind) but I operate best when the space around me is light and 'ordered'.

What was fascinating was the fact that home meant such different things to different people - for some an escape, for some the pivotal socialising point - the chance to be the best hostess ever.

So home - what does it mean to you?

Friday

How exciting is this

Recognise this house?

It is of course Charleston.

Guess who's teaching there on the 22nd March?

Ahem, ME.

Numbers are limited, so to book please call 01323 811626.

Oh my god!

Thursday

Classes

I'm always thrilled when I get a picture from one of my class participants. This morning, I got a few from Jamie. He came to the class on Saturday and has gone and made the whole quilt! How fantastic does this look. He's off and racing onto a quilt for his nephew. I'm just thrilled and it's really made my week.

I'll be teaching somewhere new and very, very special this Spring. Details coming up in the next couple of days. So exciting.

Tuesday

New Classes!

First up - two new dates for Spring for my contemporary quilting classes. I'm really flattered these sell out so fast and love the day. It's wonderful to hear the stories behind much loved pieces of fabric or clothing. Even better to see everyone create pieces of beauty.

So book for these two classes here.

Secondly - and most excitedly I have a new class in Spring. I think I've hammered on long enough about creating havens - more importantly, for you to create your own haven - creating your story as it were. So we have two dates in Spring where hopefully I can help you figure out what home means to you and help you 'get your story going'. I'm thrilled about this class and would love to see you. Book here for this one.

Much planning for this then!
PS: Still scraping paint but boy it's going to be a beautiful room. I'm a frenzy of hunting down pieces in reclamation yards, searching for restored door knobs etc etc. Only nine more rooms after this one...........

Friday

New Class

My last two classes of the year have sold out so.... we've added an extra date - Friday 10th December. Book here - I know that numbers are filling fast.

Thanks to Time Out for writing this piece . It's a little odd reading about yourself and I have to remember to send a copy to my mother!

Have a lovely weekend and do something special.

Tuesday

C'mon, c'mon

Two classes left this year. Book here. It's a lovely way to spend a day I promise!
